“A unique green hydrogen project in a recognised renewable energy”

LIMESTONE COAST
HYDROGEN HUB

The Limestone Coast Hydrogen Hub is a unique Green Hydrogen Hub co-located at the largest user of natural gas in the South East of South Australia, the Millicent Mill operated by Kimberly-Clark Australia.

With a net-zero by 2030 target, green hydrogen will enable a transition to clean fuel and renewable energy. The project will occur in two stages, with the complete clean energy transition occurring in the second stage in 2029. The broader vision is to develop the Limestone Coast region as a Hydrogen Cluster to support domestic manufacturing, heavy transport and eventual export opportunities. Key milestones for LCH2:

  • September 2021 – MOU signed with Kimberly-Clark Australia to collaborate on a scoping study
  • November 2021 – Grant applications submitted for project funding under the Federal Regional Hydrogen Hub progam
  • December 2021 – Scoping study (pre-feasibility) commences with GPA Engineering
  • March 2022 – entX joins the South Australian Hydrogen Hub technology cluster
  • April 2022 – Consortium will review the scoping study to establish a pathway forward. Currently working on business case for progressing to project feasibility study.
