entX secures patents in Australia and Canada for GenX and undertakes strategic push into US markets

2 June 2025

entX Limited has been granted patents in Australia and Canada for the design and manufacturing processes for their long term betavoltaic power generator technology, GenX. This is a significant milestone in the advancement of its innovative power solution that will capitalise on the surge in defence industry technology development in unmanned applications.

The United States’ 2022 National Defense Strategy highlighted their competitive advantage in the space of unmanned platforms was being eroded. It recommended changes to defence procurement, making greater use of unmanned underwater and airborne platforms. The memo from the US Secretary of Defence issued on April 30, 2025, goes a step further in demanding that unique technologies that will enhance the capability of autonomous and unmanned platforms be prioritised and supported through prototyping and field testing. In May, the US Committee on Armed Services Appropriations announced a spend of over USD4 billion in FY2025 on the development of unmanned platforms.

The GenX technology is already attracting significant interest from US and Australian Navies, along with Army and Prime contractors as a power source that achieves step changes in critical capability extensions. Outlasting our adversary’s platforms will give allied war fighters an important edge. entX’s strong intellectual property position, covering an array of voltaic device manufacturing processes, is poised to continue to drive the company’s value up, bolstered by existing patents granted in various jurisdictions including Japan, Korea, China and Russia, entX hopes to have the US patent granted in the coming year.

Building on this momentum, entX has entered into a strategic partnership with prominent US law firm to pursue opportunities for Government and Commercial contracts within Space and Defence industries as well as homeland security. As a key part to this alliance, entX will be supported in identifying and establishing future manufacturing capabilities within the United States to access critical supply chains and meet anticipated demand for these power solutions.

“GenX is generating significant traction from various programs that require reliable and compact power systems to enhance mission endurance and capability,” said entX, Managing Director, Bryn Jones.

As entX continues to scale its innovation globally, the company remains focused on building strategic partnerships and strengthening its presence in key international markets.
